Invitation Time!

Summer is hot - and waterslides abound! But now that we are back to school, people's thoughts start to wander more towards birthday parties. Sometimes I find that classrooms have a tight policy on sharing students contact information - which makes it tough to invite guests! You are stuck between inviting everyone (which is fine if you are up to it), or finding other ways to gather contact information. Being discreet is the easiest way to avoid future drama. Remind your child that if you are not inviting everyone, try to keep quiet about the party. Have him or her ask for contact information prudently as possible if they are old enough to gather it. If you are lucky enough to have a classlist, discretion is still the polite approach!

Consider emailing invitations through site such as punchbowl.com or evite.com where you can easily track guests. Personally, I don't think that there is any comparison to the thrill of opening a unique and creative invitation received by mail. You can create some online from sites like tinyprints.com (adorable!) or make some yourself for a personal touch! Here's a picture of an invitation that I made for a Zoo themed party for a preschooler. They were a HUGE hit - an invitation AND a SNACK! Whoo Hoo!!!
